After going though various sites here in the UK, I found that the best deals on a branded computer was on the Dell UK site. There were cheaper PCs with similar specs to the one I was looking for but these were local brands or clones and I simply didn't want to take the risk.
Right now Dell is offering £20 off selected Inspiron models and delivery for free (normally £60.00). The offer expires on the 09 January 2008.
That was enough for me to make up my mind and my choice was the low end Inspiron 530 DT (D015008). It comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 Processor (2.2GHz, 800MHz and 2MB cache) plus a 1024 MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM and 250GB (7200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive.
The price of the Dell is £ 279.02 inclusive of VAT (£ 41.56). However, this is without a monitor.
